We investigated items from WW II. These included bullets, suitcases, money, toys, ration books and much, much more!
We made Carribean Dream Catchers out of wire, material, pop poms and sequins. We measured the wire to 45cm, cut it with pliers and attached the items with glue guns. We were proud of what we had made.
As part of our work on our charity event Josie wrote this amazing acrostic poem. It is so good we have sent a copy to St Oswald's Hospice!
St Oswald hospice is for one and all, young and old, brave and bold There when you need them, always at your aid. Every minute of every day. Of course, they handle every ability, every speciality every personality. Standing up to cancer, helping you through those days. When your muscles are stiff and your head begins to ache. And helping you when your memory is not at it’s best. Lest, when your breath feels stuck in your chest. Disabilities and those dealing with difficult times So come down to our facility, in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Handling all cases with specialist care. Or treating you with happiness, instead of despair. So donate, please, keep our hospice fresh and new. Please donate. For them and for you. It needs your help. Your it’s only help. Children, teens and adults can’t cope. Everyone choose St Oswald’s Hospice! We visited Tanfield School and worked in their technology workshop to produce the main frame of our moving toys. We used laser cut templates, our CAD designs, scissors and glue guns!
Class 1 chose the St Oswald's Hospice Snowdogs to present to the school as their idea for a charity.
Mr Hampson brought in his 1938 Austin Seven for us to investigate. We discovered a lot of changes in vehicles that have happened in the last 80 years!
We have been looking at the proportions of features in faces and then drew ourselves and applied colour with pastels.
We worked together in teams (using team work skills) to complete tasks - eg balancing hoops so some were not touching the ground.
